Serenity Prayer

God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can; and wisdom to know the difference.

The “Older” Serenity Prayer

God grant me the senility to forget the people I never liked,
The good fortune to run into the ones I do,
And the eyesight to tell the difference.

The Changed Serenity Prayer
============================

The MountainWings issue, “The Person I Can Fix” moved me to send
my version of the serenity prayer.

I was in Alcoholics Anonymous and took on The Serenity Prayer as
a daily ritual. After some years I realized that the “things”
that I struggled with were other people!

My version became:

God grant me the serenity to accept the people I cannot change.
The courage to change the only person I can, myself.
And the wisdom to know the difference between when it is my
problem or their problem.

I like this…

A friend back in uni drew a picture of me. It’s very much like this one but I was standing and got two swords.
