STEPPING STONES
The Lord came to me like a dream one day and asked, “why do you sorrow?”
I answered, “Lord my life is so full of pain, I can’t face one more
tomorrow.”
The Lord sat down beside me, and gently took my hand.
He said, “Let Me explain to you, and then you’ll understand.
Each sorrow is a stepping stone you must surmount each day,
And every stepping stone you climb is a sorrow that’s passed away.
The road of life is a mountainside, with crevices in which to be caught,
But as you struggle on your way, I, the Rock, will lend support.
Every stepping stone you climb, makes spirit and heart grow strong.
Exercising character and faith, this road seems painful and long.
The way is paved with stepping stones, to uplift your heart and soul,
Though difficult, they aid your way, to a City paved with gold.
I know that you are tired, for I too have walked this way,
My sorrows did they multiply, but I cleared many stones away.
I left My Rock to lift you up, I left behind My story.
To give you strength to make your climb, to that special place in glory.
And never fear, the Rock is here, you’ll never climb this mountain alone
Surmount life’s sorrows, continue on, for they are but stepping stones.
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not to your own
understanding. In all ways, acknowledge Him and He will direct your paths.”

The Trickle
My Jeep battery was dead this morning.
I had just returned from a weeklong trip.
The Jeep is only six months old. The battery is big and new.
I hadn’t left any lights on.
What happened with the Jeep happens to many of us.
I had three power adapters plugged into the cigarette lighter
sockets. I had installed a triple cigarette lighter socket.
I don’t smoke but I have a lot of gadgets that need plugging up.
I have three cell phones. What in the world do I need with
three cell phones? That’s another story. None of the phones
were plugged up, only the three power adapters were plugged up,
and their little LED lights were glowing.
Even though they have very low power drains, these three little
lights, completely drained a big, powerful, and new battery.
That illustrated a very important life lesson.
Constant withdrawals without deposits will eventually run your
account dry. No matter how small the withdrawal, sooner or later,
your account will run dry.
That’s what happens with most marriages.
Little by little, day-by-day, small withdrawals are made from
the love bank.
A slight criticism here, a minor remark there, a compliment
opportunity missed, and the love bank in a few years is dry.
The relationship won’t start.
In all things, make sure that you add more than you take.
No matter how small, let the trickle be positive.
When you do that, not only will your own battery never run dry,
you’ll have enough power left over to boost someone else off.

The Second Hill
================
Are you running that hill or is that hill running you?
That’s a question a man asked me today as I was jogging.
He was standing by his car, I was breathing hard as I moved up
the hill where he was parked. His question plagued me.
Each day presents us with hills.
Hills, bills, chills, spills, thrills, deals, kills, pills,
wills, and nils. . .
We have them all sooner or later.
Are they running you or are you running them?
Each hill or uphill climb in our lives tries to tire us, make us
quit, or at the very least, make us complain.
You can’t avoid getting tired.
I don’t care how much exertion your physical or mental
conditioning can withstand, a steep enough hill will make you
tired.
Whether the hill is running you doesn’t depend upon whether you
are tired. There are those who are tired even though they are
sitting in rocking chairs.
The hill runs you when it gets you down.
I refuse to let that happen.
I know the hills make me stronger, that’s why I run them.
Every hill in my life has made me stronger.
If you run your hills instead of them running you,
they will make you stronger, too.
You’ll be in better shape.
You’ll get tired, but eventually the same hill will get easier
and easier.
One day, even the hills will be no challenge.
You’ll seek a mountain.
Don’t worry, you’ve got Wings.
That Hill
==========
Are you running that hill or is that hill running you?
I was jogging, sweating, and breathing rather hard. I had
jogged about three miles and I wasn’t even halfway yet.
As I was jogging up a hill a man about my age stood in his front
yard watching me run. He stood cool and comfortable as sweat
enveloped my body. No rapid breaths came from his lungs.
He looked at me as if to say, “I’m not fool enough to do that in
this heat.”
He spoke and said rather jokingly,
“Are you running that hill or is that hill running you?”
MountainWings has changed my thought patterns.
So many of you have written and expressed how MountainWings has
influenced your lives and thinking. It has changed me too. I now
instantly recognize a MountainWings Moment. It’s a moment in time
and circumstance when life gives me an opportunity to fly or flop.
All of us have MountainWings Moments each day, this was mine for
the day.
Was the hill running me or was I running the hill?
Is the obstacle that you are facing running you or are you
running it?
It makes a difference which way you look at it.
I don’t like to flop. I prefer to fly. Although said jokingly,
I took the question seriously. I decided I was not going to let
any hill run me.
The thing is, the hill doesn’t care.
The hill will be there, as unmoving and unconcerned as a tired
dog watching cars from the porch on a hot day.
Is your utility bill up? That’s a hill.
Are they putting pressure on you at work? That’s a hill.
Do you have some mean people in your life? That’s a hill.
Are you getting older? That’s a blessing though it looks like a
hill.
I have decided that no hill was going to run me.
I stepped high and spoke in my mind to the hill, “Thanks for the
workout, because of you I’m getting a real run that will make me
stronger. You may put a strain on me but I’ll be in better shape
for you next time. If it wasn’t for you, I would be weaker.
Besides, in reality, I’ve got you under my feet.”
The hill didn’t respond but faded in the distance as my stride
lengthened.
Who’s in charge of your hill?

I’M TOO BLESSED TO BE STRESSED ;p
I’M TOO BLESSED TO BE STRESSED and TOO ANOINTED TO BE DISAPPOINTED!
I refuse to be discouraged, to be sad or to cry.
I refuse to be downhearted and here’s the reason why:
I have a God who is almighty; who is sovereign and supreme;
I have a God who loves me, and I am on his team.
He is all wise and powerful; Jesus is His Name; though everything else is
changeable, My God remains the same.
I refuse to be defeated.
My eyes are on my GOD.
He has promised to be with me, as through this life I trod.
I am looking past my circumstances, to heaven’s throne above.
My prayers have reached the heart of God.
I am resting in His love.
I give thanks to Him in everything.
My eyes are on His face.
The battle is His; the victory is mine; He will help me win the race.
I repeat, I’M TOO BLESSED TO BE STRESSED!” You have just taken a dose of
encouragement. God’s love to you.

FLAME OF LOVE
“I can master it,” said the Ax. His blows fell heavy on the hard, strong
steel. But each blow only made his edge more blunt until he ceased to
strike.
“Leave it to me,” said the Saw. With his relentless teeth, he worked back
and forth. But to his dismay, all of his teeth were worn out or broken off.
“Ha!” said the Hammer. “I knew you could not do this. Let me show you how.”
But with the very first blow, his head flew off, and the steel was
unchanged.
“Shall I try?” asked the Flame. And it curled itself gently around the
strong, hard steel, embraced it, and would not let it go. And the tough
steel melted.
There are hearts that are hard enough to resist the forces of wrath and the
fury of pride. But hard is the heart that can resist the warm flame of Love.
“‘For this people’s heart has become calloused; they hardly hear with their
ears, and they have closed their eyes. Otherwise they might see with their
eyes, hear with their ears, understand with their hearts and turn, and I
would heal them. But blessed are your eyes because they see, and your ears
because they hear. For I tell you the truth, many prophets and righteous men
longed to see what you see but did not see it, and to hear what you hear but
did not hear it.’” Matthew 13:15-17 (NIV)

45 RULES OF LIFE
Written By Regina Brett, 90 years old, of The Plain Dealer, Cleveland , Ohio
“To celebrate growing older, I once wrote the 45 lessons life taught me. It
is the most-requested column I’ve ever written.
1. Life isn’t fair, but it’s still good.
2. When in doubt, just take the next small step.
3. Life is too short to waste time hating anyone.
4. Your job won’t take care of you when you are sick. Your friends and
parents will. Stay in touch.
5. Pay off your credit cards every month.
6. You don’t have to win every argument. Agree to disagree.
7. Cry with someone. It’s more healing than crying alone.
8. It’s OK to get angry with God. He can take it.
9. Save for retirement starting with your first paycheck.
10. When it comes to chocolate, resistance is futile.
11. Make peace with your past so it won’t screw up the present.
12. It’s OK to let your children see you cry.
13. Don’t compare your life to others. You have no idea what their journey
is all about.
14. If a relationship has to be a secret, you shouldn’t be in it.
15. Everything can change in the blink of an eye. But don’t worry; God never
blinks.
16. Take a deep breath. It calms the mind.
17. Get rid of anything that isn’t useful, beautiful or joyful.
18. Whatever doesn’t kill you really does make you stronger.
19. It’s never too late to have a happy childhood. But the second one is up
to you and no one else.
20. When it comes to going after what you love in life, don’t take no for an
answer.
21. Burn the candles, use the nice sheets, wear the fancy lingerie. Don’t
save it for a special occasion. Today is special.
22. Over prepare, then go with the flow.
23. Be eccentric now. Don’t wait for old age to wear purple.
24. The most important sex organ is the brain.
25. No one is in charge of your happiness but you.
26. Frame every so-called disaster with these words ‘In five years, will
this matter?’
27. Always choose life.
28. Forgive everyone everything.
29. What other people think of you is none of your business.
30. Time heals almost everything. Give time enough time.
31. However good or bad a situation is, it will change.
32. Don’t take yourself so seriously. No one else does.
33. Believe in miracles.
34. God loves you because of who God is, not because of anything you did or
didn’t do.
35. Don’t audit life. Show up and make the most of it now.
36. Growing old beats the alternative (dying young).
37. Your children get only one childhood.
38. All that truly matters in the end is that you loved.
39. Get outside, every day. Miracles are waiting everywhere.
40. If we all threw our problems in a pile and saw everyone else’s, we’d
grab ours back.
41. Envy is a waste of time. You already have all you need.
42. The best is yet to come.
43. No matter how you feel, get up, dress up and show up.
44. Yield.
45. Life isn’t tied with a bow, but it’s still a gift.”
